Crafters' Tool Kit

We all love summer and along with it comes those beautiful butterflies.   When using them on a card, make a paper-pierced butterfly trail by using the paper-piercing punch tool from the Crafters' Tool Kit (pg. 188).

Rhinestone Brad Tip

I cannot tell you how many Rhinestone Brads I have used since we added them to our catalog..love the sparkly.   However did you know that you can open it from the back by prying the prongs open.  Then bend the little holders back and pop out the stone.  Use the stone in the center of a flower or for some sparkly bubbles.  I use our Tombow Glue to hold them in place.   Love them!!!

DSP Tip

Have you tried stamping directly onto your DSP?   Especially if you use a lined image like the Cute & Cuddly set (pg.67).  The bear would be so adorable stamped onto the Manchester DSP (pg.160) and then cut out and used on a scrapbook page or card.   Give it a try.

Candle Idea

Turn a simple candle into an elegant gift by adding a stamped belly band in complementing colors.  Coordinate with your favorite DSP and add ribbon of your choice.

Pretties Kit

Have you gotten your Pretties Kit (pg.175) out lately?   The flowers can be used in so many ways.  Here are a few.  Color them using your Stampin Write Markers to make them coordinate with your card design.   Another fun idea is to stamp directly onto the flower.  This works best with the larger flower,  but stamping them using a dotted stamp from the Itty Bitty Backgrounds Set (pg. 119) or even one of our large background stamps (pg. 129) makes for an adorable flower.  Give it a try and let me know what you think.

Brad Tip

When I put a brad, any brad, on a card or scrapbooking page, I always turn the project over.  I then take my bone folder down through the prongs to open them and then press them out flat.  Then I take the flat side of the bone folder and push hard on the back of the brad to flatten the brad.  I have found this saves my fingernails, keeps me from being poked and minimizes the bulkiness that tends to make out projects cost more when going through the mail.   Just cannot live without this embellishment.

Ink Spot Tip

Do you own our Stampin' Spots?  I just learned from SU Demo Support that you should NOT store your Stampin' Spots upside down.  (which I did)   Because they are so small, SU fills them as full as possible before shipping.  (Aside note: they are filled by hand.....cool, huh?)  However since they are filled so full, storing them upside down may cause them to leak.   Just when you think you know what you are doing......someone shows you differently.   Have a great day!

Tip of the Week

Do you Burnish your items together when you adhere them?   Burnishing means to rub when you adhere items together using the Bone Folder.  You can also Burnish color onto cardstock using a sponge or dauber.  Your projects will stay together better if you Burnish them when you are finished.  I just turn them over and take my Bone Folder and rub back and forth for a few seconds to help it adhere.  I do this when I use Snail and our Anywhere Glue stick.  Give it a try!

Stampin' Tip

Don't throw away those old Blender Pens.  I use them to remove unwanted ink from a stamp.  When you are stamping an image like a flower with a stem, ink up the whole stamp with one color (say the flower color).  Then remove the color from the stem and leaves with the old Blender Pen.  Replace color with a green marker of your choice, huff and stamp.  It has never been so easy!   I also use the old Blender Pens in bleach to highlight an area.

Stampin' Tip!

I read this from Heidi Sorg another SU Demo and thought it was a wonderful idea.  You know how those pesky red strips from our Sticky Strip tend to cling to you and everything else?  Heidi takes  a scrap piece of paper and puts a few strips of Snail adhesive on it.  Then as she removes the red pieces she sticks them to the paper and when done, throws it away.  Woo! Hoo!  It works and no more red strips flying around my Stampin' Studio!

*Side note:  I sure have been using alot of Sticky Strip lately.  Know why?  It is the best thing to adhere together all of those new projects we are making with the Big Shot.   Call me to hold a Big Shot  Workshop in your home.  You and all of your guests will love seeing how easy it is to use it.
