Jody asks what the difference is between Classic ink and Craft ink. Thanks Jody for the question. This was confusing to me when I first started stamping, but SU has made it easy for us.
Classic Ink is a water based dye ink which dries quickly and is used for basic stamping. Basic Black, Basic Brown and Basic Gray are made with a waterproof dye and will not bleed when watercoloring.
Craft Ink is a pigment ink that dries slower. You may have to heat set it or sprinkle clear emboss powder over it for quicker results. (You can actually emboss in all of our 48 colors by stamping with craft ink and embossing with clear embossing powder.) Craft Ink is more archival safe than the Classic Ink, so it can be used for Scrapbooking. You can also use Craft Ink to stamp onto fabric and wood. Since it is a thicker ink you may have to refill it more often. I have found it to be a more vibrant ink when dry, you just have to be patient when waiting for it to dry.
You can actually watercolor with both inks. Before Leadership in January 2009, I only used the dye inks for watercoloring, however they showed us that you can also use the Craft ink for watercoloring and I love it. The colors again are more vibrant, but do not blend as much as the Classic inks.
I have a few customers who will not use anything else but Craft Ink, but for basic, quick stamping you cannot beat our wonderful Classic Inks.
Don't wait.....give both of them a try using the same project so you can personally compare the results. Enjoy!!!
